A local maker’s guide to Cambridge craft markets

Most weekends you will find Dani behind a stall somewhere between Cambridge and Ely. This is the view from the maker’s side of the table: where the good markets are and how to get the best out of them.

Market Square makers days

Cambridge’s central market runs daily, but the dedicated makers days are when the stalls fill with people who made what they are selling. Come in the morning for first pick; one-of-a-kind pieces rarely survive to lunch.

All Saints Garden art & craft market

Opposite Trinity College, in a leafy churchyard, and every stallholder is the artist. It is the best browsing in the city when the weather cooperates: prints, ceramics, jewellery and, on a good Saturday, a table full of mosaics.

Ely craft and collectables

A short hop up the line, Ely’s market place mixes makers with collectors. Quieter pace, proper tea nearby, cathedral looming approvingly over the whole thing.
